This was very odd book. The overall story in Still Water was similar to how a vampire story might go, but no one was a vampire. In the city of Stillwater, nothing ever dies, at least not for good. People, animals, and even plants can all live forever, but they must first die and be buried. After that someone will come dig you up and you will be alive forever. I think that power would be a blessing & a curse. You will never die and live an ok life, but you must keep that power a secret.
This book shows one of the ladies’ son come back home that has lived his life without his mom until he get a odd letter from someone from the town of Stillwater. So he and his friend take a trip to the town. After they get there they see a kid push another kid off the roof of a tall building. They take the hurt boy to the doctor only to see the boy to jump up and run out of the doctor office without any injuries.
The doctor tells the men about what going on in the town. They walk to a corn field and pull up the corn by the stem. The men watch as the corn immediately regrows on the stem. Things got even more odd from there.
I feel that if this story had any basis in real life, I would say “RUN!!!” People with that kind of power will lose their humanity. Overall I found the book to be interesting and worth reading, and I will continue reading the series when the next book is published.
