First, I want to thank Novel Horizons for giving me this book to review.
This book reminds me of a “girl meets boy” in a popular place and fall for each other at first sight.
I found that a really sweet way to start a romantic story. I found the opening scenes with young Emina playing on the swing set by herself. As she tries to swing her self on the swing set, she is not able to get the swing to move, she felt sad and was about to call out to her mommy to push her. All the sudden, she felt like she was being pushed. Emina thought it was her mommy and turned to thank her. When she turned around, she sees a young Haruto pushing her. As he pushed her a few times, she felt her heart beat faster and felt herself start to fall in love with him.
After Emina was done swinging, she looked around for Haruto to see him on swinging up on a horse and he had his eyes on her. Emina wanted to do something to impress him so, she choose the monkey bars. As Emina started to swing on the monkey bars, she lost momentum and knew she was not going to make it to the next monkey bar. She knew she was going fall and get hurt. Emina started to cry for her mommy, but her mommy could not hear her. However, Haruto did hear Emina cry for help and rushed over and saved her.
Once Emina was safe, Haruto told Emina his name right before their mothers came and took their children away. Emina never forgot him and and how she felt with him.
A year later, Emina sees Haruto their senior year at Keiretsu High School. When she saw him again, all of her feelings bubbled back up into her quickly.
The part of story that struck a cord with me, is when Emina got picked on by a few of her classmates when they found out that she had feeling for Haruto. The ring leader of the harassment is her classmate called Rumi.
Rumi and a few of her classmates called her names and told Emina she had no chance to be with Haruto. He was not in her class and if Emina tried get close to him, they would make sure that they would make her life a living hell. They left Emina crying. She felt useless and broken. Haruto heard Emina crying and came to her and did his best to cheer her up. They spent a few moments together, just looking at each. Feeling their feelings for each other, as they filled their hearts again, making them beat faster.
This scene of the book, reminds me of what happened to me in high school. I was picked on and when I tried to get close to a popular lady in high school, there was group of people that picked on me. They made me feel down, but later in my life, I started to stand up for myself. When people like that tried to put me down again, I did not let it get to me. In fact, I did get to know the popular lady in high school later on in my life.
I feel that this over all story is very heart warming and very sweet. It shows, that true love and love at first sight, are still out there in the world. You just need to look for it and when it does come into your life, you need to let it into your heart and let those feeling envelope you.
I really enjoyed this story. I reminds me of a few milestones in my life and what I learned
form those moments.
