GREENZONE LIFE IN THE BLOCKS Review 6-24-22

This digital comic was sent to me by Fish Lee to review. This is my first review of a comic book that was requested by the creator of the book. I am honored to do this review.

This comic book is about the future of our world that has gone to BIG BUSINESS. The police are mostly corrupt, the rich look out for themselves, and the poor are left to live with what the world has done to them, and what little gifts that it has given to them. In this world there are more mutants than humans. The mutants have unique gifts, like being able to make a little rag doll dance or to cry huge waves of blood. The world is a mess and this what came of things because of it.

In the early pages of the comic book it shows that even though it is the future some things have not changed. Some cops that feel that they need a power fix will pick on someone weaker than them, like a little girl that was using what gifts she was given to make her doll dance for her to bring a little joy to her life. Those kind of cops are the same as cops in our time. It is sad to think that even in the near future that cops would still be like that and that they would be so shook up by someone that they would try to stop them from having some fun. There are a few moments in the early part of comic showing just that. Green, a huge mutant frog, stops the cops from picking on the little girl. They do not like it and start to pick on Green instead. The cops think he is threatening them and Green keep saying “No Sir.” A woman yelled at the cops to stop picking on him, and that he was only five years old. The cops did not care and kept picking on Green to the point that he cries out waves of blood tears onto the cops, shocking them to the point that they arrest him.

The next part of the comic book I found interesting is that after the cops busted a group of the mutants they turned them into cadets. I found it a little funny when Green was getting his uniform on he could not put the gun belt on. One of the cops said “You must wear all of the uniform Cadet!” After a few minutes had passed the other two mutants came up with the idea to put the gun belt around Green’s wrist just like a watch. I thought that was a funny moment in the comic book.

Other part of the comic book showed that mutants were paired with other mutants cops, but Green was paired with a human cop. Just like real life police, some of the partner pairings do not go well, and that rookies get picked on by their senior officers. I found it heart lifting that Green’s partner bitched that it was not fair that Green had to ride in back of the police truck. I enjoyed that moment. The last part of the comic I felt was powerful to me was when Green’s partner was being picked on by some tough guys and mutants. Green’s partner tried his hardest to get control of the situation with no luck. Green got tired of his partner getting picked on and he got off the police truck. The tough guys and mutants where shocked by the size of Green. After the shock wore off the tough guys and mutants started to pick on Green to the point that he began crying out waves of blood tears all over the tough guys, mutants and his partner. The tough guys and mutants ran away in shock and disgust. Green’s partner just laughed out loud!!! Green picked up his partner to make sure he was ok. The officer said he knew a place nearby where they could get cleaned up. He was still laughing out loud and calming down Green

I am hoping that Fish Lee enjoys my review and I hope that he would like for me to do more reviews for him in the future, and that he lets his other comic book author friends know about me.
